Vendee Globe yra pavienių buriuotojų, vienuolikos savaičių ir ilgesnių nuotykių simbolis: solo, non-stop, unassisted apiplaukimas aplink pasaulį, prasidedantis ir baigiantis Les Sables d’Olonne.
Kas tai per regata ir jos reikšmė
Solo, non-stop, unassisted round-the-world yacht race remains the pinnacle event in the offshore sailing calendar, with over 2 million fans visiting the race village ahead of the start.
The Vendée Globe is the most gruelling event in the sport of sailing, and is arguably the most challenging sporting event on the planet.
A race like no other, the Vendée Globe brings people together. It inspires nations, with stories of resilience, mental toughness, survival, overcoming adversity and camaraderie in the harshest conditions on the planet.
Maršrutas ir sąlygos
The Vendée Globe route is simple on paper: sail around the world, starting and finishing in Les Sables d'Olonne. This represents a theoretical length of at least 21,638 nautical miles, not counting the detours the sailors may take to avoid the vagaries of the weather.

The course begins with a descent to the south of the Atlantic Ocean, where the skippers face the capricious Bay of Biscay. Things get complicated when the boats reach the latitude of the Roaring Forties... and even more so when they reach the Roaring Fifties! Once rounding Cape Horn, the boats head back up the Atlantic Ocean.
Here, feel the palpable excitement of the skippers as they prepare to face raging storms, huge waves and merciless winds aboard their majestic yachts.
Istorija ir statistika
1989 metais pradėtos rengti lenktynės kaskart sulaukia vis daugiau dalyvių, kurie drįsta mesti iššūkį sau ir vandenynams.
For its 11th edition and 40th anniversary, the Vendée Globe remains true to its unique DNA, but 2028 will mark, as it does every edition, a new stage in the evolution of the race.
To date, only 100 skippers have succeeded in this exploit, known to the general public as the ‘Everest’ of the seas.

Šiuolaikiniai pokyčiai ir naujovės (2025-2028 ciklas)
PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES, CONQUERING THE NORTH! AFTER THE DEEP SOUTH, SAILORS SET THEIR SIGHTS ON THE HIGH NORTH! Having taken on the Southern Ocean during the Vendée Globe, skippers will now head towards the High North.
For the first time, skippers will reach the Arctic Circle - a challenge that matches both their commitment and their thirst for adventure.
This is the major innovation of the third edition: a free-route course with no prescribed track, promising a wide range of routeing options, bold strategic choices and plenty of suspense.
Cold temperatures, fog, fast-moving low-pressure systems and short, steep seas will become part of daily life in these demanding and unpredictable high latitudes.
Vendée Arctique ir kalendorius
As the first major race of the 2025-2028 cycle leading to the Vendée Globe, Vendée Arctique 2026 is set to become a key event on the IMOCA calendar and a showcase for Vendée’s expertise in organising world-class offshore sailing events.

The Vendée Arctique is a demanding and unprecedented challenge, sending solo skippers across the Arctic Circle for the first time at a longitude of their own choosing.
Already looking ahead to 2028, the Vendée Globe is preparing to write a new page in this extraordinary human adventure with the first solo race of the 2025-2028 cycle, the Vendée Arctique - Les Sables d'Olonne.
Kvalifikacija ir taisyklės 2028 m.
Registration opens 1,000 days before the start.
The date was not chosen at random: on 16 February 2026, we will be 1,000 days away from the start of the race, and skippers will be able to submit their applications to the organisers.
A fair and inclusive qualification system To compete in the 2028 Vendée Globe, each skipper must have proven their experience by completing at least one Grade 2 solo race on the IMOCA 2025-2028 calendar on the boat they will be racing in the 2028 Vendée Globe, without exceeding twice the winner's time.
Once this condition has been met, skippers must be among the top 37 in the IMOCA Globe Series championship, which is based on several criteria. In each race, skippers score points according to their ranking, the grade of the race and its format (solo, double-handed or crewed).
To determine the final ranking, each competitor's worst results will be discarded: only the nine best performances in grade 1, 2 or 3 races will be counted. The results of grade 4 races will all be counted and cannot be discarded.
Three wild cards may be distributed by the organisation to complete the fleet and reach a total of 40 participants.
"Based on lessons learned from previous editions and discussions held by the diversity committee, this new qualification method balances sporting fairness with recognition of the diversity of backgrounds and projects" - Alain Leboeuf, president of the Vendée Globe and the Vendée Department.
Tvarumas, moksliniai tyrimai ir energijos autonomija
Each skipper must carry at least one scientific instrument, contributing to the knowledge and preservation of the oceans.
In 2024, 25 volunteer skippers had already carried sensors, floats or buoys to collect valuable data in areas rarely studied due to very limited maritime traffic.
"The Vendée Globe is an exceptional human and sporting adventure, but it is also a formidable laboratory for oceanographic research" - Alain Leboeuf, president of the Vendée Globe and the Vendée Department.
Another new feature in 2028: skippers will have to aim for energy self-sufficiency based on carbon-free energy. The goal is to limit the use of fossil fuels as much as possible, which will now be reserved for safety situations.
Of course, there has never been any question of using the engine to propel the boat forward - sailors complete their round-the-world voyage using only the power of the wind - but they have always had to generate energy on board to power electronics, heating and communications with land.
Until now, this production has combined fossil fuels and carbon-free energy; from now on, they will have to generate it from renewable sources.
"This measure encourages teams to go further, to innovate and to find more virtuous solutions. It is essential for our ecosystem." - Alain Leboeuf, president of the Vendée Globe and the Vendée Department.
Technologijos, laivai ir komandos
Founded by Pierre Casiraghi, vice-president of the Yacht Club de Monaco, Team Malizia combines athletic performance, technological innovation, and a commitment to sustainability, with the ambition of inspiring new vocations.
After finishing 5th in his first Vendée Globe in 2020, Boris Herrmann, a member of the Y.C.M., has committed to a new five-year campaign aboard his new IMOCA 60 Malizia-Seaexplorer.
Early this Monday morning, a new-generation IMOCA built for the 2028 cycle hit the water for the first time. With the Vendée Arctique - Les Sables d’Olonne barely over, attention has already turned to the next Vendée Globe. The reason is simple: the launches of the new-generation 2028 IMOCAs are following one another.
This Thursday in Lorient, Thomas Ruyant’s new IMOCA left the CDK shipyard hangar to be launched for the very first time.
2024-2025 ir 2025 įvykiai - Borisas Herrmannas ir kiti
On November 10, 2024, he set off from Les Sables-d’Olonne for the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe, a solo circumnavigation of 24,300 nautical miles (45,000 km) without stopovers or assistance.
After a controlled and trouble-free journey for three-quarters of the race, Boris Herrmann crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe 2025 on January 29 at 11:18 PM aboard Malizia-Seaexplorer.
However, in the final miles, the skipper had to face a series of challenges: a hook break, a collision with an UANI (Unidentified Object or Animal), and particularly difficult weather conditions as he approached the Vendée coast.
39 metų hamburgietis vienu metu buvo pakilęs į trečiąją vietą, turėjo puikių galimybių laimėti regatą, tačiau B.Herrmanno jachta iki tikslo likus 90 jūrmylių naktį rėžėsi į žvejų laivą.
Finiše vokietis nuo nugalėtojo Yannicko Bestaveno atsiliko 11 val. 14 min.
Susidūrimas man iki šiol lieka mįslė. To negaliu paaiškinti.
